Our servicing, maintenance and repairs division is run by nationally respected Mark Wilson - a 40-year veteran of sewing machine technology and engineering. Mark started his career as an apprentice in Halifax with SR Gent Plc - a garment manufacturing giant and major supplier to M&S that was at the time quoted on the London Stock Exchange and had 4 factories in Yorkshire employing 4500 people. He went on to work in technical and sales roles with internationally renowned Toyota Sewing Machines before founding Shipley Sewing Machines in 2001 and North Yorkshire Sewing Machines in 2021.
There is nothing Mark doesn't know about the technical make up of every sewing machine under the sun and the great importance of maintaining them. A typical domestic sewing machine has around one thousand moving parts and needs an annual inspection and oiling.
