Introduction

50 years of service

White Rose Sewing was established in 1978 and has therefore been trading for nearly half a century - making us (we believe) the longest established sewing machine retailer in Yorkshire.

Under New Management

In July 2025, the business was acquired by a small group of North Yorkshire business friends and the company changed its name to White Rose Crafting Group Ltd, with the ambition of creating a national entity - selling, maintaining and repairing world class sewing machine brands in partnership with two of the biggest names in the industry - Brother and Juki.

In August 2025, the Harrogate store was rebranded and relaunched under the management of Sharon MacLusky and Madeline Andrew - both lifelong crafters and sewers. Maddie is a qualified scientist, teacher and accomplished musician, currently studying for a degree in textiles practice. Sharon is a former IT trainer who lived for 12 years in Hong Kong and Grand Cayman. Both have children, live in Harrogate and just love making clothes.

Customer care and service lies at the very heart of White Rose's DNA... with a passion. Step inside the shop and you'll soon see why.

Sustainability

We are huge believers in sustainability/upcycling and the fact that designing, making and repairing our clothes will help to reduce the 12 million garments a week that are currently discarded into UK landfill.

Hi There I just wanted to send a quick message to say thank you to the two gentlemen who were minding the shop whilst staff were attending the Knit and Stitch show on 22nd November. My partner and I are from Leicestershire and were on holiday for a few days in lovely Harrogate. I popped into the shop as I wanted to try out the JUKI HZL D7 as I had heard a lot about it. It didn't disappoint when test driving it, suffice to say, that I ended up buying one there and then!! I literally took delivery of the machine four days later and have been playing ever since! I have been a lifelong Bernina user and advocate, but I think my allegiance is about to change. We will be in Harrogate again next year visiting the Knit and Stitch show and I'll pop in to say hello
